Hello Worshippers,
Have you ever heard the famous story of David and Goliath? Did you know it was just a few small pebbles that God instructed David to use to defeat Goliath—though he ended up needing only one? Now imagine if David had looked at those pebbles and thought, “This isn’t enough. It’s too small. How could this possibly work? I need a sharp spear instead!” If David had relied on his own logic instead of God’s plan, the story we know and love today might have ended very differently. I share this image with you because it reflects how many of us approach praise and worship. Wondering what I mean? Keep reading!
Many people assume that praise and worship is limited to singing a few songs about Jesus during church, at home, or in the car. However, they often overlook the incredible power behind true praise and worship! Let me speak directly to the worship leaders out there: your role is far more significant than you may realize. You’re not placed on that platform to simply sound good or look the part. When you step onto that stage, you are stepping into a battle against darkness. As a worship leader, you are on the frontlines, making you one of the enemy’s primary targets, second only to pastors and church leadership.
When the enemy can’t reach them, he will come after you. If you underestimate the power of the weapon in your hands, you risk becoming an easy target—tossed around like a ping pong ball. Imagine standing beside a powerful cannon, mistaking it for a mere toy, while the enemy advances toward you. Instead of firing that weapon, you remain idle. That’s a terrible mistake!
You must fire your cannon—use your praise and worship as the weapon it was designed to be! It holds immense power. Of course, learning how to use this weapon effectively is important, and if you are interested, we can dive deeper into that in another post. But for now, remember this: you have access to a mighty, life-changing weapon!
In the natural, praise and worship might seem as insignificant as the pebbles David held in his hand. Just as David stood surrounded by countless ordinary stones, we’re surrounded by worldly singers that appeal to the flesh and so when you go to the stream to select your pebble, it may seem ordinary— just another talent for singing. But, don’t overlook the significance of what God has placed in your hands. It’s not ordinary. It’s set apart. Unlike what the world offers, which feeds the desires of the flesh, your praise and worship are empowered by the Spirit of God to bring down strongholds and to shift atmospheres!
Even if you’re not a worship leader, praise and worship are incredibly powerful tools in your spiritual journey. In the Kingdom, there are many weapons for victory, and this is one of them. The enemy is fully aware of its power, which is why he works hard to keep you from realizing its impact—so you won’t use it against him.
Your pebble is not just a stone—it’s a weapon charged with divine power. It carries authority. It’s your cannon in the spiritual battle. Don’t underestimate this mighty weapon.
Another powerful example of the impact of praise and worship is seen when the Israelites prepared to take over the land of Jericho. A massive wall stood in their path, but God gave Joshua specific instructions. The Lord instructed Joshua to lead the people of Israel in marching around the city walls for seven days. As part of these instructions, Joshua positioned the musicians and trumpeters at the front. On the final day, they were to blow their trumpets, and the entire assembly was to shout in praise! Now, our logic would’ve made us think that nothing will happen because we don’t have dynamites to blow up the walls. However, the walls did come down because they were obedient in using their instruments to lift up praise and worship unto God!
What’s holding you back from using your weapon? Maybe you didn’t even realize you had one! Well, now you know—you do! Start using it today and see the incredible changes that will take place. I’m excited for what’s ahead of you! If you’re interested, we can explore this topic further in the days to come. Until then, keep praising and worshipping!
Much love,
Shéshé Evans
